Like a race horse that's specially bred to run. Cameras and lenses are 
made to be used (even the specials on occasion).

I read somewhere, Erwin perhaps, that it was a combination of the high 
manufacturing cost and build complexity that did in this lens.

A shame for the R user who would love to make images with it.
