Was it an extremely overcast, gloomy day? I have to admit that I have never been further north than Boston, so I'm not accustomed to what the sun does at that oblique of an angle in the dead of winter (other than making ISO 400 to 800 a must). Then again, my monitor at home is getting on in years.
