forums. You might try querying the manufacturer. Perhaps the one you have is

defective. I must confess that for this reason I went with having my SL-2

calibrated for 1.5v cells

You would need to have the meter converted. I believe both Sherry Krauter and 
Don can do the job. 

I have two meters here right now. One is a black chrome MR meter that the 
customer told me he had converted and the other is a chrome one that the 
customer said nothing about. The silver battery in the  CRIS adapter only 
works in the converted one.
