I'm not trying to be crass here, but I don't see that as "fine" from ANY era. It just has no soul, is unnatural and not real. It's tacky and gaudy in my opinion, and that's just my opinion. And I'm not trying to be mean or belittle anyone about what they like. Some people think B&W is foolish. Some people think color is foolish. Some people think 35mm is foolish, and some MF foolish...it doesn't make it right or wrong. Thank GOD I don't have any pictures of my family that are like that. I know people who do. Everyone makes jokes (or at least snickers a bit) about those pictures. I DO have some portraits of my father, from the 50's and 60's and they do NOT look like that, they look nice, in fact, very nice. I also have some of my mother, and they look really nice too. They are natural, and real. > Now, what's wrong with a young man wanting to learn the basics of > posing, lighting, etc. Nothing, of course! > He asked about portraits. That's what this is > about. Well, it's "about" ONE way SOME people have done "portraits". There are other ways. Austin - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
