The Rapidwinder is louder during advance because it has to advance the film by rotating the motor-coupling shaft at the bottom of the camera. More gears turning, more tourque, louder sound. (Measure it!) The quietest way to advance a leica is to take your time and slowly wind the standard wind-on film advance. Andrew Nemeth - ---- I would contend, Andrew, that if you have to "measure it" to tell the difference then there is no difference in the real world. And you can use the rapid wind as a slow wind and be hard pressed to hear it - although very slowly advancing the standard lever may be a mite quieter. B.
