One benefit of the flaring is that forces you to keep your eye centred where
focusing is most accurate. An important factor with limited DOF lenses wide
open.

"Benefit of the flaring?" The flaring is an unfortunate, annoying defect in
an otherwise wonderful camera. If you want to say that it doesn't cause you
to loose shots, fine. But calling it a "benefit" is a bit like saying that
one benefit of driving the Ford Explorer on underinflated Firestone tires is
that once the SUV has rolled on its side you don't have that annoying long
step down to the ground...;-)
