Subject: [Leica] New diffraction element lens completely off topic

I had the opportunity to shoot with the new Canon 400mm IS diffraction
element lens today. Wow. 4.3 pounds for a 400mm F4.0 lens. To find out
what it could do I shot a few frames at 3.5 meters which is the close
focusing point. The exposure was at F4.0 at 1/8 sec. The stabilizer at
position 2 which is for panning, in other words not optimized for a
portrait. I think you will find it's quality for a completely hand held
shot at 1/8 pretty amazing considering there was a challenge for a 50mm at
1/4 sec.

No, its not a Leica, but it is at the limit of optical performance.
