Subject: [Leica] Leitz Summarit 5cm 1.5

I've sent several Leitz lenses to John van Stelton in Louisville, Colo.
at Focal Point. He's always the one who answers the phone and is glad
to discuss the lens problems and tell you when something isn't
economical to do. I had fogging on a 9cm Elmar and a 3.5cm Summaron I
had gotten off Ebay. Not enough contrast on the prints--a great deal of
white haze due to scattered light on the lens. He polished the haze off
for $75-$80 per lens. They look like new and take sharply detailed
pictures.
The 5cm DR Summicron that came with the set had no fogging, but did
have areas where the lens coating had been rubbed off. He recoated that
lens for about $150. Again, just like new.
He CLA'd the M2 that came with the set for $175. The thing
functions flawlessly.
The totals: Ebay bid for the M2, 3.5cm, 5cm, 9cm, and 13.5cm Hektor
was $1625.00. Von Stelton's work was $475.00. Total price $2100.
Believe me, it was worth it.
