If you're worried about losing the base plate of your Leica, I suggest
you find yourself 1/4-20 bolt end of a wrist strap and weld eight inches
of wire to it. Then attach the other end to either your neckstrap or the
eyelet of your M camera.
This way you will never lose the base plate, unless you lose the
camera....
