Selling photo gear is like selling a car. If you sell it to a dealer you
get the low wholesale price but it easy, quick, tidy, and over. If you sell
it yourself probably E-*** would be the way to go but then you have the
learning curve if you don't use it plus setting up a Pay-pal account, it may
not sell, the purchaser might claim that you didn't identify the scratch
under the mirror that is plainly visible with the dental mirror and demand
funds back, blah, blah, blah. This is simple capitalism, for pain there is
gain.

You will have to be the judge of profit/convenience curve. I can tell you
that for common items the dealer will offer you something like 40% of the
eventual selling price even if the equipment is in good condition. My
personal opinion is that for something like a Rebel the difference in price
isn't worth the pain, if you have a 1N and a 400 2.8 then sell it yourself
as the spread is significant.
