Subject: [Leica] Half yearly results
Date: Tue, 04 Dec 2001 11:29:14 EST

The following is a quote from the Leica Newsletter received a couple fo days ago by email which looks fairly positive for the future of the company:

>Leica Camera AG has published the interim report for >the first half of the fiscal year 2001/2002. The main >topics are:

>Leica Camera Group improves operating result in 1st >half of 2001/2002 by 2.1 million to 0.4 million
>Temporary lack of digital cameras leads to 8.0% decline in sales to 66.6 million
>Restructuring runs according to schedule, supports profit forecast
>Liabilities due to banks drop by 26.9% to 31.7 million

>You may receive detailed information at the following ?>address

With new digital cameras coming on line then hopefully sales will continue to improve. It is notocable that although sales of 'system' cameras showed a rise, most of this was in the Far East and sales in the US and Europe dropped markedly.
