David,

Don't hold your breath. An AE M has been announced before (most recently
when the last 0.58 M6 was being announced as a "new" M) but has never come
out. I've also heard tell of a digital M, which has likewise never
materialized.

Leica may at some point bring out a new M camera, but I'd wait until it
actually hit the shelves to believe it. If you need an AE M now, you should
consider a Hexar; at least they're currently commercially available.

Or you could just do what many M users have been doing for years: waiting,
praying, cursing.
