And <thus where darned silent? <Tim A Tim The EOS 1 RS( based on EOS 1N) is still in production with a fixed transparent mirror. Perfect for low speed and almost silent pictures but you lose light as only 75 per cent (more or less) go through the mirror. There were precedent as Canon Pellix and Canon RT.
