The Leonids shot: http://www.webcom.com/alexey/paw/week200145.html ...or the street photos? ;-). For the Leonids shot, M6HM, 35 1.4 ASPH wide open (an IDEAL setup for meteorite pix), Fuji Superia 400. Exposures were made for 15 s to more than 5 minutes, the frame shown was in the 30s -1' range. I mounted the M6 on the guard rail of a fire lookout tower; this was done with Vise grip pliers and a homemade L-bracket with a (Leitz) ballhead attached to it. Actually, by far the most difficult part was getting up early enough to be at the top of Gile Mt. before 0500! Also, with cold-numb fingers, I almost dropped the bottom plate off the tower during a film change. I'm going to have to put a leash on the bottom plate when I take the M6 to high, exposed locations. I did not track the earth's rotation, so you can see motion blur in the background star field. There is a sweet home-made setup for tracking described here: http://home.hiwaay.net/~warrenca/Astronomy/Projects/Barndoor/Door.htm ...of course, if I had tracked, the skyline at the bottom of the frame would have been blurred. > I like weeks 47 and 42 the best!
