I suggest you make it a condition of the sale that Lager or some similar expert judge the camera to be authentic. If the seller's reputable, he should have no problem with standing behind the camera and refunding your money should you be unsatisfied. If he doesn't want to go for this, pass on the deal. There are too many fakes and too many "gotchas" for a "regular" Leica user or collector to be able to navigate these waters without expert help. In addition, any really authentic example will go for enough that the seller won't have people lined up to buy it, especially under current economic conditions. IMHO, of course.
