As far as non-Leica available light lenses go, I've read great reviews
of that honking great 28/1.4 Nikkor.  

Frankly, IMO nothing but nothing matches the current fast Leica M
lenses. It's a fool's errand to even try :-)

Actually, the 28 1.4 Nikon and 85 1.4 are, in my non-technical users
opinion, up to Leica standards....Two terrific lenses, although the 28
1.4 is a pig in terms of size and weight. The 85 1.4 is, for B&W use,
virtually identical in terms of "finger print" to the 75 Summilux. Great
lens.
