The finest performance of Mozart's Requiem I have heard is the one conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini, not his later recording on the Sony label, but his earlier one (c.1980) for EMI/Angel. And Sir Colin Davis made several very fine recordings of it too. And there is a pirated recording of a live, broadcast performance conducted by Guido Cantelli, which I have never heard, but which many experiences with other performances by that conductor would lead me to believe should be the best of all. The range of emotions from A to B! Now I'll put on the 1962 Karajan Berlin. ADD just like me! None of these wimpy gut strings on the Violins! Mahler meets Mozart!!!!! The singing is sure better! I think they've got real women instead of young boys doing the high notes! :) Mark Rabiner Portland, Oregon USA http://www.rabiner.cncoffice.com/ - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
