"Why bother?" The same can be said about Leica Replicas! The prices of a real honest to goodness Leica III or IIIa, IIIc or IIIf has recently come down to the point that you should be able to find a real Leica, and with a little TLC have it in remarkably good shape in no time. I have been asked by many where to get their FEDs or other Russian camerasa worked on, and the answer has been usually, well, there is a gut, but he is expensive.... Sure, you can drop a bundle on a mint IIIf Rd with self timer, and then feel guilty handling it without wearing gloves, but you can get a slightly dinged or brassed copy for a whole lot less, and feel great dragging it anywhere!!
