The D1X is pretty impressive too. It's not *quite* there yet for me, because
the 1.5x multiplier leaves you pushing for w/a lenses (you need the new 14mm
to get the equivalent view of a 21mm on a film-based Nikon), and the rather
strange interpolation scheme does some odd things.

The interchangeable lens digicam that most impressed me lately was the Kodak
DCS760 which addresses both issues (it's 1.3x) but it's a *lot* more money
than the D1X here in the UK.

But for some tasks digital is just *so* much more productive (and therefore
profitable). Shooting pack-shots in the studio, uploading the images to a
web server as we shot them, and getting the editorial people elsewhere in
Europe commenting on the work in (almost) 'real time' was remarkable.
