In terms of collecting for investment purposes....Which everyone who has read this list over the past few years know I think is essentially an oxymoron when linked with the word Leica - ;-) -... A rare book without its dust jacket is worth MUCH less money than in is with its dust jacket, and it is worth MUCH less with a damaged dust jacket than with a perfect dust jacket....Thus is one buys limited editions, first editions, etc., and wants to preserve the value, a plastic cover makes great sense....Similiarly, an LP in excellent condition with a perfect or near perfect slip cover can be worth a comparatively great deal of money compared to its issue price - anyone tried to pick up a mint Meet The Beatles lately? I don't claim to know anything at all about video tapes and their long-term value. On the other hand....Maybe Rei is just an anal compulsive lunatic? :-) B. D.
