[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]http://www.shinozuka-family.com/20011014test/ over the weekend, i evaluated a 75/f1.4 M which appeared to be in mint condition. i was a bit dissapointed in wide-open performance, and wondering if it might be a bad sample, or need a CLA or something. highlights seemed ghostly, and the image seemed a tad more soft and low contrast than i would have expected from this lens. i'd really appreciate the advice of 75M owner if my findings are representative of the 75M. i'm particularly surprised because the 90 cron seemed as good or better at equivalent stops and i've certainly read more about the performance of the 75 lux than the pre-AA 90 cron. i set it up on a gitzo 1228 tripod pointing at the shed in my backyard on an overcast saturday and shot it wide open, f2 and f4. i also shot alongside with a gen III 90 cron (latest pre AA version) and 35/1.4 ASPH. i moved the tripod for the 3 lenses to get approximately the same angle of coverage. film was Fuji ACROS exposed at EI64 and developed in XTOL(1+3). i posted magnified sections to: http://www.shinozuka-family.com/20011014test/ each of the squares is 400x400, representing about 3.6mm x 3.6mm sections of the neg, scanned at 2820 dpi. its arranged such that every row is at the same f stop. do you guys think the top middle one is good performance? thanks very much! - -rei - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
