Subject: Re: [Leica] Vertical Alignment at Infinity

I had a similar problem when I got my first M6. The split image was out by a
whisker but enough to cause a niggle every time i wanted to focus at
infinity. It can happen when a body gets a good jolt or knock.
It can be corrected by adjusting the screw on the swing arm inside the lens
mount. There are some useful pages in the lug archives that can help you
with this. Some people perhaps not suprisingly would prefer to leave it to a
professional as it may also need calibrating at medium and close focusing
distances.
I did have a go myself and managed to get the split images to meet at
infinity, although it still didnt seem to be too accurate at closer
distances. That M6 has been replaced now, and the new one I have has had no
such problems, thankfully.

Good luck with it..
