Amazing image. I believe the "postcard" look is due to what is NOT there;

people
overhead power and phone lines
billboards and other advertising signs
lack of "modern" fixtures and modifications to the building

and what IS there,

the railroad car looking like something from the '30s and '40s

and the color effect in the image
