Leica also did apply coating to earlier lenses on request. 2) Yes 3) There will be a big difference between coated and un-coated lenses in contrast and flare suppression. The material used for coating on the early lenses IS VERY SOFT. It is easily damaged and subject to deterioration over time. At present, the 50/3.5 cannot be economically re-coated but the 50/2.8 can. I would recommend buying a M mount f2.8 version from the sixties to get a more robust coating and the possibility of re-coating in the future.
