The package is new and the enclosed manual has a printing date of 2001. But, the lens itself is engraved "Made in Canada". Now, I'm aware that the Noctilux was designed in Midland, Ontario, and were originally made there, but it's my understanding that all Canadian production ceased many years ago. That being the case, does this mean that the lens elements were actually made 15 or 20 years ago and were just recently assembled in Germany? This would have to be the case since this lens itself is the 4th version (current), with the built-in lens shade, that was introduced in 1994. Does anyone have any insights on this?
