I found many times during the whole affair very poignant as this was a cross-cultural event, his family being traditionally Hindu and ours traditionally Christian. Whilst I am not 'religious' my daughter and new son-in-law are reborn Christians and felt that they needed to marry after being together 16 years, and living together for at least 8 of those. I have shot many weddings (up to 70 a year!) but my daughter looked the best bride ever, and it's not as if I am prejudiced! Needless to say Dad was brought in to do the photographic honours (I knew I would have a use some day!) and I shot the whole event on Leica R8 with 50mm f1.4 and M6 with 35mm f2. The M6 was loaded with Fuji 800iso which I find to be a very good film for candids in colour. We have another 'event' tonight as yesterday just happened also to be the grooms parents 45th wedding anniversary. I was talking to his mother (who is Fijian Indian and hence Hindu) who told me that at the age of 17 she was simply told "you are getting married today to this man" who she had never met. How times have changed! Gerry
