Nathan,

This is a wonderful photograph.

The glasses detract nothing.

Actually they give validity to the setting.

Without the glasses, it is two guys, you know not where.

With the glasses, it fills in the details.

Since only the subjects are sharp, that is what you see. The subjects. But 
the unsharp stuff in the background is important too.
