Hi Mark,
Absolutely right. Chit chatting about Leica gear bits and pieces and
photography in general is only a small part of belonging on the LUG.

The nicest part is the personal contact when travelling about the country
and finally putting a face to the name of people on the screen you know you
just want to sit down with them and shoot the breeze about Leica and life in
general.

Over the past few years my wife and I and myself when traveling alone, have
made many new friends good solid down to earth folks, those that you know if
you are in a bind somewhere they'll help you if at all possible.

Yep we have the battles once and a while, what family doesn't? But they
usually occur due to time lag and confusion of words and responses that
don't happen as fast as face to face conversation.

But as Mark says, "I've got to meet lots of nice folks because of this
list!<< So have I, and I'd not trade one of them off for anything. Great
folks here from one side of the planet to the other top to bottom!
