Friend Kyle . . .

Way, way, way back when, second-hand Nikon F bodies and AI and AIS
lenses were a dime--maybe a quarter on a good day--a dozen in New York.
It wasn't that they weren't highly valued. On the contrary, everybody
used them and that was probably the main reason for their relatively low
dollar value. They were everywhere. And there were so many grey-market
sources for new stuff, if you were inclined to go that way, that it was
sometimes cheaper to buy new than used. Leica, on the other hand . . . .
has always been Leica;-)

By the way, I don't think there was such thing as a Leitz R lens over
180mm that was as fast as f2.8. The fastest R lens over 250mm was a
350f4.8 Or you could go with the 250f4 :-) Or, if you had a strong
assistant, you could go with the 800/6.3. I have a vague memory of a
Leitz promotion for that lens where, if you bought a new one, they'd give
you a new VW beatle as a premium. But maybe that was a nightmare and not
just a regular memory:-)
