Subject: [Leica] Leitz SM to M adapters

Bonsoir,

About the fact that the infinity mark of many SM lenses mounted on an M
adapter does not stop at 12 o'clock. I remember reading, a long time
ago, the following information. Leitz wanted the photographer using such
a setup to be able to get as much information as possible, regarding the
camera s settings, when he (no PC bull....) looked at the camera s top
plate. Remember the aperture setting of the venerable Elmar 50mm, you
must look at the front of the lens. The problem was that photographers
using a long nose viewfinder (the VIOOH?) would not be able to see at
which distance the lens was focused since the area would be covered by
the finder. By making the lens infinity mark stop at 1 o'clock the
problem was solved.

Now let s please get back to more OT subjects like commies from the
north.

  Tata,

  Robert (Un chevalier sans blason)
