It will take some more wotk to unravel these mysteries. The 50/1.8 Nikkor did about as well this time as last time, so I'm satisfied that it's as bad as it seems :-) And that 85/2.0 is pretty dang good, isn't it? I can now go toe to toe with its detractors, with at least a bit of evidence to back me up. I haven't shot much wide open with the 28 Summicron yet, so I'm not sure what's going on there - both f/2.0 frames looked similar, so I don't think I screwed the pooch when I focussed it (I focussed independently for each shot). We shall see. It does point out how little DOF wide angle lenses have when they're opened right up. The Summicron 28 seems to be focused somewhere just ahead of the frame in the F2 shot, but dead on in the others. The Summicron 50 also shows some shift. Does your test result with the Cosina match your other experiences with it? It seems awful. Likewise the 50 1.8 Nikon. The 85 F2 is suprisingly good. Best wishes Dan States >
