for anyone who goes thru midtown/rockerfeller area in NYC,
on the ground floor of the UBS/Painewebber building there's a nice
exhibition of photographs by esther bubley. she did a lot of
work for LIFE magazine in the late 40's-60's, particularly
photo-essays. i particularly enjoyed the slices of americana
from the 1950's.

this is a off-topic since she used a contax (one of the real ones),
speed graphic and probably a rollei. but if you're like me and
grew up poring over each week's issue of LIFE, i think you'll
appreciate these images, beautifully printed and displayed,
together with many of the original magazine photo essays.

UBS/Painewebber is at 1285 Avenue of the Americas (51st & 6th ave).
