I think Henry was a bit short on his explanation for the standard advertised
prices on Leica (MAP)....

The real issue is that if you want to be partially reimbursed for your
advertising with Leica, and maybe certain deals they offer you, you WILL use
the prices that they give to you.  Break those prices and the
(reimbursement ) walls come tumbling down.

It is legal method of creating fair trade pricing ( setting standard SALES
rather than ADVERTISED prices), which is of course, against the law.  If the
store claims they MUST sell at that price because the manufacturer states
so, that is a legal lie.  They have the right to sell at whatever price they
want, with no repercussions.  It is the advertising price that Leica and
others can control.
