In my part of the woods, we rely on two simple and cheap measures. Mosquito Coils - It contains pyrethrum. You light it at the beginning of the night and the coil burns for about 12 hours, just enough to repel the insects which are most active at night. Cost - less than 5 US cents per coil. Mosquito Net - Covers the sleeping area and suspended from the ceiling. Cost $5 and, if handled properly, lasts for years. The principle of the two methods are - Since you can never catch em all, create a chemical and physical barrier to bites. Dan K.
