Optically it is at the top of the heap for a pre-asph lens. It is however large for an M lens. It has three things going for it, one you can optically extract details pretty easily at a full stop faster than the 90. Two, the out of focus rendering is without peer. Three, portraits have a magic look with this lens especially near wide open. Four, ok I lied, for theatre it gives you reach in the awful light so many plays are designed around. It would not be my first or second lens which is why so many people who own one don't talk much about it. Also, with the debut of the 90 AA unless you need the reach in low light I'm not sure I could recommend it. Last, some people on this list find the M-6 frame lines for 75 hard to use. I don't and frequently use it with an M-3 and guestimate framing.
