I used a Focomat 1C with a Nikkor 50 and that funny extending ring and
although it seemed to work okay I was never comfortable enough about it that
I didn't check through a grain magnifier. But then of course you can't tell
if it could be MORE in focus without twisting the focus, and then you're
focusing manually!

Ah, the magic of Leica!

I have a 1C manual lying around someplace if you need one.
