There are two styles of the F1.0 Nocti. The earlier version had a removable
hood; the newer one has a built-in retractable hood. The optical formula
is, I believe, the same.

I see Nocti's for sale nearly every Friday here on the LUG, and often for
less than you submit.

Aside: I recently purchased an early version Nocti from Ken Hansen in New
York. The serial number denoted a 1981 build date. I was in the store
again a couple of weeks afterwards, and he says "Hey, what's the last few
digits of the serial on that thing?" So I look and tell him. He rummages
around in the cabinet and finds the original box *with the original warranty
papers*, and all with matching serial numbers! I was floored. The warranty
return envelope was still sealed in plastic.

The Nocti *would* be my everyday lens, except that the focus ring takes
about twice as many twists to get all the way through the range, so it's
just not quick enough for everything. But that dreamy wide-open look is
music to my eyes. I say stop fantasizing and go get one!

Regards,
Colin

puts mentions a 1.2 and 1 noct. is there more than one style
of the 1 noct?

should i expect to pay about 2K for a nice secondhand noctilux?

every M user has to fantasize about this at least once!

thanks,
