I don't see it as a matter of integrity.  For me the issue is what I want to show.  Using the example of wildlife photography, some people are interested in pretty portraits of the animals, having no moral problems taking the animal out of its habitat or using digital techniques to change the background in order to better display the critter.

For my own wildlife photos I want to show the animal in its natural enviornment, so I limit digital manipulations to removing dust & scratches, cropping and color balance.  Any other changes can alter the perceived enviornment to something the animal may not have voluntarily chosen.

For me, Ken's change in Nathan's photo doesn't alter the essence of the picture, unless the PDA was induced by the traffic signal. <g>
