In his original message Erwin did say "a bandwidth of .06mm".  This to me implies "+/-.03mm" as bandwidth is usually interpreted as the maximum range of the signal on both sides of the 0 line.  So that means that Leica has a tolerance of +/-.02mm, and the Hexar has a tolerance of +/-.03mm - not nearly as bad a result as Erwin implies in his subsequent statement "Leica tolerances are 3 times as narrow as the Konica ones (0.02 versus 0.06)".

Erwin's apparent misstatement aside, it does leave the nagging question of the nominal back focus in each case - the Leica's 27.8 and the Hexar's 28.0.
