Austin,

I don't consider myself unlucky, but simply very picky.

The first R8 was returned due to a dealer mistake (serial number on camera
turned out not to match paperwork-someone had looked at two at the store and
the clerk carelessly put them back in the wrong box I think).

Second R8 had the Leica red dot with the Leica script at an angle.

Lenses were mostly just too dusty on inside for me. 100mm APO also had very
loose aperture ring.

All equipment functioned properly with the exception of the 100mm APO.
Diaphram blades would not stay in wide open posotion but snap back in
(detent was off).

I felt my example would help people see that the USA warranty indeed has
merit and it allowed me to establish a personal relationship with Brenda
Olesin who I think the world of and she is a credit to Leica USA and Solms.

Today, I am a very happy and pleased owner having purchased two M6's, and
M4, an R8, and and R6.2 plus 4 lenses.

Let not one of us forget that Leica being small can also have it's
advantages when it comes to personalized service.
