The thing I find strange is how the light meter was not working, then all of a sudden it started working. I put on the flash and the light meter stopped working. Now that I think about it, the first time I used a flash I had some miss fires, also. But what I noticed was that I was at a shutter speed of 125th. I just figured that the camera did not fire the flash when above the flash sync shutter speed. Is this impression correct? Perhaps you forgot to switch it to "off". The flash is electronically controlled at the hotshoe and the pc terminal; no battery, no flash.
