__ New photographers in our internet gallery
__ Auction of Vaclav Havel's Leica M6

__ New: LEICA VIEWFINDER for 21/24/28mm lenses

Leica is offering a new LEICA VIEWFINDER for
21/24/28mm lenses as a universal accessory for the Leica
rangefinder system. Besides featuring superlative optical
performance, it is extremely practical to use, as the field of
view for all three focal lengths can be selected without
changing the viewfinder. The all-metal body is robust
enough to withstand even toughest professional use. The
classic round design harmonizes perfectly with the LEICA
M6.

__ New photographers in our internet gallery

Beyond their profession as trainers at the Leica Akademie
in Solms, Verena Mueller and Michael Agel are working on
different photographic projects with the Leica SLR- and
rangefinder systems.
See two of their projects that demonstrate impressively
their photographic ability in our section with Leica
photographers.

Verena Mueller:
Her latest essay, entitled "New Hope for Paracatu”, is a
dramatic reportage about a development assistance project
in Brazil. Her pictures are characterized by authentic,
direct, but also respectful photographic observation.

Michael Agel:
Rock’n Roll usually means working carefully in a very loud
environment. Michael Agel (born 1970) has captured
images of bands like AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Eric Clapton,
Metallica and Rolling Stones in exactly such situations.

__ Auction of Vaclav Havel's Leica M6

The auction of the Leica M6 handed over to Vaclav Havel
ended on May 18, 2001 with a fascinating finish on the
Amazon web-site: The price reached 40,500 DEM (approx.
17,700 US-$) after several prolongations thanks to new
bids. The special camera went to the Leica Shop in Vienna.
Peter Coeln, owner of the renowned shop for historical
cameras, bought the piece for an anonymous customer.
Before delivering the special collector's item he will take the
opportunity to display it at the new museum 'WestLight'.
This new 'celebration place for photography' will open on
June 11, 2001. More details may be found at the web-site
www.westlight.at as of the opening. The proceeds of the
auction will go to the “Vize 97“ foundation trust created by
the president and his wife.
