A Nikon F100 will focus a 100mm f2 lens in low light on someone's eyelashes in much less than half a second. Even my Hexar AF usually focuses faster than I can. Of course, a Nikon F100 is a lot bigger than a Leica, and it encourages a mode of use where you focus/set exposure on every shot, which sometimes gets in the way. I like the manual RF camera because it encourages you to just set the camera and then just see and shoot the photos. It's relaxing, even if you miss focus once in a while, which I do.
