Few people know that the most beneficial camera accessory is a banana sticker. These improve your photography enormously. I've been using them since 1974 and my photography has improved so much in the last quarter century that my Mother actually likes one or two my recent snaps. This is a major advance. What happened in 1974? Jock Sturges was looking for an assistant for a couple of weeks while he was in Oxford. He asked me, goodness knows why. I thought that it might be interesting, so I agreed. It was interesting, not least because all his cameras had banana stickers on them - and he explained that they were the Key to Clear Vision. He was just about to change to Leica M from Nikons, so he gave me a surplus Nikomat as a parting gift. It even had a soft release (like a cheap chrome version of the TA softie). The Nikomat has part of the genuine imitation Naugahide peeled away and 'J Sturges' scratched in the revealed metalwork. It still has the original sticker. NFS. I have experimented with other stickers, but conclude that the banana sticker is the best. Kiwi fruit stickers are no good at all. Mango stickers do improve sharpness, but are prone to what is known as 'Mango failure'. There has been a long thread about this issue on alt.receptacles.custardpie.dame-margaret-hilda-thatcher recently. Depending on you political (oops sorry) inclinations you may wish to consider a sticker from one of the grower's cooperatives. If you live in a country where bananas come from plants instead of from supermarkets I will be happy to e-mail you a sticker.
