From what I know of the "industry" headshot shooters, most use the 85mm,
f1.4 or 1.8. While photojournalists have been switching en-mass to
Canon, most of these folks are still using Nikon heavily. I seem to
recall the 85mm f1.4 being the predominant lens. 
Of course, most have an M6 with a 35 Asph. dangling, showing that they
are serious about their craft.
