Although I have not tried it myself, I feel it may be a bit slim for supporting the Apo-Elmarit-R 180/2.8. With a little re-engineering I now use my existing Canon EF tripod mount (designed originally for the Canon EF200/2.8L) with good result. > Date: Mon, 07 May 2001 00:57:27 +0200 > From: lucien <director@ubi.edu> > Subject: Re: [Leica] Re: Apo-Elmarit-R 180/2.8 - Tripod Ring/Mount > Message-ID: <3AF5D6D6.85777C3E@ubi.edu> > References: <200103240801.AAA22127@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us> <3ABC8CBA.FC4D6CC4@netvigator.com> > > K K Hui wrote: > > > A tripod mount is desirable if you want to use this R-180/2.8 Apo lens with a 2x Apo Extender recommended by Leica. > > Is there an alternative or third party make at all? > > Yes, the Leica STA-1 (#14 636) work on the APO-Telyt 180/2,8. > It was made for the Apo-Macro-Elmarit 100/2,8. > > Lucien >
