Jeff,

During the 1980's we visited the Grand Canyon and I took a bunch of shots
with Kodachrome 64. At the time I was using a Nikon camera and the 24-35
(?) zoom, 50/1.4 and 70-210 zoom. I project my stuff on a 60 x 60 matt
screen with a Leica RT-300 projector (at that time). I was somewhat
disappointed with the results which just didn't have the color saturation I
wanted, which was one of the reasons I switched to Leica and prime lenses.
However, even the Nikon 50 didn't quite cut it. I don't know what kind of
film you are using or what you do with your shots, however, I would take
the M3. I have owned a T4, Leica Mini (still have it) etc. None of them
come up with the quality of the Leica. The Canyon, contrary to some
remarks, is a splendid place take a lot of shots. The lighting changes by
the hour. A polarizing filter would be useful in increasing the color
saturation.

The first thing that I said when we saw the Canyon was WOW. It will blow
you away. Take a lot of film. Projected slides on a large screen are hard
to beat in reproducing the feeling of awe and majesty you will experience
when you first see it.
