[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]I recently bought the new 90 f/2.0 APO lens, and the aperture ring barely, yes I do mean barely, settles on each setting and, after selecting an aperture and returning the M6 TTL viewfinder to my right eye, I find that if I accidentally barely (yes, there's that word again) touch the aperture ring it immediately flies to another setting and is so loose I cringe. I also recently bought the 180 2.8 APO and, after using it only twice, when I turn the focusing ring from the left to the right, upon only slightly making the turn I find it catches moderately and the slow down based on the catch continues quite far across the entire focussing distance. Also, there is a horrid squeak lasting approximately 2 seconds at about the mid focusing point which resembles fingernails on a chalkboard/metal impacting metal. This suggests inadequate lubrication and desiccation of the heloid surface. These findings are intolerable! These two lenses cost me approximately $5,000 and Leica dared send them out with these anomalies????? Does anybody else herein have horror stories about sickening findings in recent Leica product purchases they would like to vent? I grew up with my father's M2s and M3s and he still uses them and respective lenses today and none have shown any problems. What I experienced above is inexcusable! Terry
