Try testing it out... into the light, and with the light at your back. Use
a tripod and take first a frame with the hodd, then another without the
hood. Bounce back and forth. Turn around and shoot towards the sun, witht
he sun at 45 degrees to yout image and again at 30 and 60 degrees.

Use either Slide film or B+W. View the images on a light table ( or glass
window with sunlight from the outside).....Check the amount of change in the
contrast of the scene....If you wish, print the B+W images and look at the
prints....

The hood will cut down on spurious light bouncing into your lens and flare
from the sun and sky onto your glass elements. You decide if you like what
you will get.
