Yet new improved scanners are, seemingly, still being developed and launched, viz. the recently mentioned Nikon LS4000 ED. It would appear that the scanner manufacturers, at least, do not foresee the early demise of film.<< Right you are. I'm very involved in digital imaging. But I've yet to purchase a digital camera. With each improvement in scanners the potential for my older images improves. That wouldn't be the case if my original images were first captured on digital media. Film is here to stay. I used a borrowed digital camera for a while. I regret it now. It was a high end camera, but the results just don't match up to my Leica made chromes on any level except one -- convenience. But convenience is the antithesis of creativity and permanence. Dave
